Internet timing out

New laptop-3 weeks old

Problems- connection times out, half a web page loads, pics are missing, connection is slow on some websites,

Things I've checked-desktop computer directly connected to router works fine, ipod connects fine, just not the laptop
Changed DNS to google, geeksquad ran 2 checks-no spyware,hijacking, removed norton,

Finally just restored laptop to factory settings and stilll have the same problem

If you are running on wireless, how far away is the laptop from the router? This happen also when using a cable?
