Hi Folks

Have just updated my OS to Windows8 Pro and my old X1950pro card graphics card drivers are not supported.

Can anybody recommend a new card that will work on Windows8 WDDM 1.2 drivers and out perform the existing card. I am not looking to spend much money on this as next year I am building a whole new rig and will be going core i5. This is just a stop-gap.

Willing to spend about £50max and dont mind buying second hand. Happy with AMD or Nvidia.

Current specs

Core2Duo E6420 (2.13ghz) O/C @ 3.2ghz
4Gb Ram PC2-6400 4-4-4-12
500W power supply - FSP. 12v @ 17amp, 1x6pin pci-e connector
gigabyte ga-965p-ds3p mobo
2 PCI Express X16 slot(x16, x4)
Samsung 2032MW 1400x900 resolution.

Games i currently play.
DiRT
C&C3
Football Manager
COD4
MW2
Sim City 4

All games play well on high specs except for DiRT. Hopefully looking to get slightly better performance from the new card but would be happy with the same performance as the current x1950 for minimal spend.

Thanks for your recommendations.

You best bet is the HD 6670: it will both outperform your X1950 PRO and it is around your budget:

There are cheaper HD 6670s around, but they are out of stock in all UK shops at the moment.

I would be against getting the HD 6450, as it is slower than your current card.
