I upgraded my machine about 6 months ago and things have been running great but after the holidays, and a new batch of games, its not running as smooth or fast as I was hoping and honestly expecting.

Here are the specs:

CPU: i7 - 3820 3.6GHz (not overclocked and Hyper Threading enabled)
MOBO: ASUS P9X79 - WS
RAM: 16GB G-Skills (dont remember the latency)
GPU: ASUS GTX670 2GB GDDR5
HDDs: 64GB SSD (OS), 500GB 7200RPM with a 120GB SSD setup as Cache
MONITOR: LG 27" running 1920 x 1080

Far Cry 3 will not get above 30 fps with most settings at high/very high. Is this just what my computer will do as a whole or is there something thats holding it back?

V-Sync is on. I'm not home to test if my fps go up with it off but i suspect it will. I have noticed that the frames drop to about 20 from time to time. I've read that turning off hyper threading can help on tasks that can't use 8 threads, this true? I want to get the most out of my machine, as everyone does.

I found the issue. In Far Cry 3 when you turn on V-Sync you have the option to sync 1 or 2 frames. If you choose 2 frames it caps you at 30fps and 1 frame caps you at 60fps. I get around 70 - 90 fps with it turned off. Thanks for all the help.
