Getting low fps in games with my gtx 670

I expected WAY more than 40(some times even below 30)-70fps in crysis2... I payed 400$ for a graphics card that i heard played crysis2 at nothing below 60... Im really confused please help me figure it out, also i get 30-60 in bf3 even when i hear your supposed to get 50-70

More about getting games
  1. what resolution
  2. $400 you paid too much, anyways a 670 is not enough to max out modern games with solid 60 fps anyways. What resolurions are we talking about btw?
  3. what resolution ? I can play all the games i own on ultra except two or three and get average 60 fps with one of my cards @1920 x 1080
  4. you have two 670s =P
  5. 1920x1080 :/ its really starting to piss me off because i just got this, and I really expected a lot more

FYI: im thinking it may be a cpu bottleneck
  6. well you should definately be getting more fps than that...

that would be pretty disappointing if that cpu is bottle necking. 4.7ghz and all. ill be back, off to look at some benchmarks with that cpu in particular.

Yeah i meant with one of my cards i get that ;)
  8. http://cdn.overclock.net/6/62/6260523d_crysis2.jpeg
    http://cdn.overclock.net/2/24/2465c2dc_bf3.jpeg

that is with a better card, and the cpu overclocked higher. look familiar though?
  9. ugh is my card defective :(
OK screw it im overclocking it too 4.8 and ill report back on what happens

P.S. I reset my cpu to default and when I played it my game crashed :/ this computer is being screwy right now
  10. ok so the best i could get was 4.7(btw I had it at 4.5 before) and now where I was getting like 30fps im now getting 40-50 which is good but REALLY? I mean I think it should be a lot better

P.S. im on the missioin roadrage in the subway, i get the worst lag spike when i go and look at the people talk by the heli(sorry if you never played just saying)

yeah its basically the same that i get in bf3(it really should be higher) also i have mine clocked at 1241 is it near the same speed as that 680?

UGH! did i waste my money for an upgrade(from the hd 6850) that was not even that great... also do you think I would get better fps if i get the i5-3570k?
  12. a 3570k would probably do better, yes. not sure about in bf but in other games it would
  13. http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/1830/79036013.png You see that just one card it's your cpu for sure.

Solid 60fps in BF3 on Ultra settings 4X MSAA MP?? I guess you have the magic edition 670!

    Crysis 2
    BF3
    Arkham city

Are just a few of the games that won't run solid 60fps @ highest setting 1080p.
  15. did you have it at max settings?

also i cant get mine to oc that far :( how you get yours so far?

I get like 1241 all maxed

What drivers are you using btw? You would definitely benefit to a Piledriver 8350 upgrade, but your current CPU is clocked quite high already. Have you updated you MB bios, what is your GPU utilization during game play?
  17. also what are the settings in your afterburner? I cant read it

Just ran two tests with one 670 PE BF3 Average 59.33FPS but i am getting in Crysis 2 Average 53.66fps
  20. hmm thats wierd :/ also do your drivers fail or do you get artifacts when you oc to high?
  21. LOL!Your right about Arkham city just ran test one 670 PE MIN. 28 MAX 81 AVERAGE 56

? yeah my drivers fail... like the screen goes black and it says that the drivers could not keep up :/

GPU usage 50% 60% 90% which is it?
  26. :( I cant go sli for a while

in bf3 it like 60-80 but then in crysis 2 it actually pretty high but i mean I expected a lot more so im hoping that I dont drop down to 30
  28. bf3 min 46.99 max 70.46 average 59.33 one card so it's your cpu i think maybe not

Hey play roadrage in crysis2 with dx11 ultra and highres pack, tell me what fps you get before you get to the window where you hear the people talk

Yeah Arkham city is horribly coded anyway, you're probably right about his CPU being the bottlenefck which amazes me btw. Like I said the piledriver 8350 can really boost up your FPS in games, if indeed OP's current cpu is the bottleneck. That sucks because you just spent $400 on a gpu.

    how do i benchmark it?

yeah but Christmas is coming

besides I wonder how much a difference it is between the gtx 670 and hd6850 and I needed to start getting better cards, eventually sli so :D

also are you sure the 8350 will help? Are you sure it wont be bad because of the multithreading?

    OK

  35. Actually forget about the 8350 not much difference in that particular title

    checkout Tom's review
    http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/fx-8350-vishera-review,3328-13.html

Uninstall the drivers and run a driver cleaner program, then reboot and install 310.33 drivers.

  38. You can try this bios if you want do it at your own risk

    MSI GTX 670 PE
    Version: 80.04.19.00.04
    FAN: 20% - 100%
    http://ultrashare.net/hosting/fl/3e32b7aac7/PE670_VMOD_BP-200-225_FAN-20-100

PLEASE BACK UP YOUR BIOS (with nvflash for example) RESET YOUR OC SETTINGS BEFORE FLASHING.
AFTER FLASHING REINSTALL THE NV DRIVER (Clean Install) AND REBOOT.
TEST WITHOUT ANY CLOCK OFFSET FIRST.
  39. 5 percent chance we dont hear from op again lol
  40. Lol!
  41. no lol my enternet freaking died  for like 6 hours i was cut off *shiver* :P ill look at that, so what then i just download it put it on a flash drive an boot off the flashdrive?
  42. There are more GTX670 and GTX680 firmwares in the thread over at MVKTech (HERE). http://www.mvktech.net/component/option,com_joomlaboard/Itemid,34/func,view/id,63576/catid,10/limit,10/limitstart,0/

Salitus bios'(The creator of the bios and mod) comes in at 1293 stock
All of Tecfreak's bios' come in at 1202 stock boost.(Whom is a helpful fellow on OCN)

Things to do before the flash:

Reset your overclocked settings in all programs you use.
Reinstall NV drivers with clean install(not necessary but some people have had to)

    Flash guide
Use this to save your bios
    http://www.mediafire.com/?r95szd1c3dh363r
It is a new version of GPUz that allows so.
    you can use this: http://www.mediafire.com/?76z6cfr5d2y7h77
its for the Zotac extreme the install is in Chinese but its in english for the program. It has a built in Flash/Save bios ability and its great.
SAVE YOUR BIOS FIRST! then select flash bios, ok, then select the file from the OP and wait until its done, reboot and your good ! Super simple.
IF for some reason something goes wrong, you can boot off a second gpu(ex iGPU or another dedicated) and reflash the bios you backed up. http://www.youtube.com/feature=player_embedded http://www.youtube.com/feature=player_embedded
  43. OK ill do this later my enternet is complete crap right now
  44. You do it whenever you want bud.You do not even half to if you changed your mind that is fine.
  45. *twitch*
  46. I know this may sound weird but have you tried underclocking your GPU by like say 100mhz below stock? Sometimes when the GPU clock is pushed too high it does not perform very well and thats a noted issue with the MSI lighting edition series since MSI secretly overvolts them.
  47. AMD Bulldozer sucks at gaming. Your CPU is bottlenecking the hell out of your GPU.
