More about build give opinions buying parts saturday
  1. Hi,
Hopefully, the board will be newer than May 2012, otherwise a BIOS update is required for supporting the CPU: http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/970%20Extreme3/?cat=CPU .
    What about the graphics card?
For RAMs, check if they are listed here: http://www.gskill.com/configurator2.php?pid=2&model=1421
  2. it said it supports it.
  3. It does: AM3+ FX FD6300WMW6KHK 95W Piledriver 3500MHz 2000MHz 2MBx3 8MB C0 P1.60

Notice the P1.60. It's the required BIOS version (released in May 2012). If the board was manufactured after May 2012, it will support the CPU. If not, a BIOS update is needed.
  4. are bios updates easy?
  5. You would need a supported CPU or buying a BIOS chip and replacing the board's one (it's on socket).
But since we are in December now, my guess is that you will not get a such old board.
  6. okay thanks, do you know any supported boards? Thanks
  7. And were's the gpu ? do you have one ? cause that cpu doesn't have a on die gpu(integrated graphics)
  8. i'm hoping the motherboard has on board gpu
  9. Maybe the 970 Extreme3 R2.0 These boards have no integrated graphics.
  10. Sorry pal, you have to ditch that cpu, either get a pentiumG8xxx or i3+mobo or an amd apu.
  11. do you know any motherboards which support the new amd 6300 without any bios updates?

  13. maybe, i quite like the new amd 6300 just because its newer and only £10 more..
  14. 970 Extreme3 R2.0 supports it without a BIOS update. But you'll need a graphics card.
  15. oh does it? i thought u needed a bios update of 1.60? or does it come out of the box with it on?
  16. What's the pc for ?
  17. i might try and fit an i5 then :/ i only wish i3 are quad cores..
  18. The board that does support it is 970 Extreme3 R2.0.
The one that you mentioned is 970 Extreme3.
  19. You can get an i5 :

    so i could use 970 extreme3 r2.0 with 6300?
  21. Just get the i5...it's way better than the fx-6300 and you don't need to look out for any mobo with bios update.
    See this : http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/fx-8350-8320-6300-4300_5.html#sect1

It's 2 pounds more, also the i5 prices on that shop are overpriced.
