My computer won't play any high end game

I recently built my gaming PC and installed all the latest drivers for everything, And I started to play games on it, but as soon as I entered gameplay (cutscenes and everything else work fine) the game freezes and the audio begins to loop, and I'm forced to do a hard shutdown. This happens for nearly ANY game (Online flash games work fine), and it's really annoying, considering I spent over $1,000 on the parts. I know for a fact that it's not dust (I just built the computer yesterday) and it's not heat related, because my case has great airflow, and the fans for the graphics card, CPU, and case are working fine. My specs are:

ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 motherboard

AMD FX 6100 6-core processor

Diamond Radeon 7770 graphics card

Kingston 16gb HyperX ram (Two 8gb sticks)

ASUS xonar DG sound card

TP-LINK 450mbps wireless dual-band PCI express adapter

Seagate barracuda 500gb HDD

OCZ 60gb SSD

Kinwin 550w PSU

Windows 7 home premium 64-bit

Someone please help, I'm on the verge of putting a sledgehammer through my computer. :fou:

We need example of games, the settings, and the FPS. FYI flash games have little to nothing to do with gpu, and into and cut scenes are often movie files being played. Also, the 7770 is mid-range card, so be realistic.

Id bet its the power supply. Try that.

For 1k why not go with an intel build that will perform much better in the games. And you should definietly consider switching out the power supply to a better known brand.

Have you read his post? The computer is already built.

I have and it says he built it yesterday which means he can return the parts, that's why I asked why not go the intel route for 1k?

I've tried all of these games at the lowest graphic settings:

Deus ex: Human revolution

Planetside 2

Dirt 3

Nexuiz

Arma 2

GTA 4

I get about 30-40 FPS before the game crashes.

Tried swapping out the PSU for a friend's Antec 750w, still no luck.

what are the temps of your CPU and GPU?

is your HSF not seated properly? possibly causing thermal shutdown
