1) If you are replacing your primary drive and the new drive doesn't have one, you have to install one.

2) Boot from a pen drive that has windows / DOS installed as bootable.

Is the old HDD is still fuctioning? If it does all you have to do is clone it to the new HDD, using a cloning software(Acronis or EASEUS) but you need an adapter USB to SATA/IDE adapter.
