I'm going to be attempting to build my first computer, I don't know anything about it.... I am looking for advice on what I should buy. I need advice about absolutely every part(Mouse, Keyboard, Monitor, etc)
Just a little background information on what I am looking for in a computer... I am a gamer, so I am looking for high quality visuals and speed.
I'm looking to spend $800-$1000 over time for everything (by buying parts each paycheck or so).
The monitor I'm currently looking at purchasing is this: http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-VE248H-24-Inch-LED-Monitor/dp/B0043T7FHK/?tag=vig-20
Any advice on this monitor or any other parts I should buy would be greatly appreciated.
Also I know nothing about overclocking and should I get a Blu-Ray Reader on the Optical Drive or is it a waste of money?

i would look at something like this. check out the video below for why you want a ssd. you could replace the 660ti with a cheaper 7870 or 660. also if you dont plan on overclocking you can get rid of the cpu cooler and could get a i5-3470 for $180 instead. if you can afford it i would get the 3570K so you have the option to overclock.

if your not against ordering the parts for a couple different sites you can definitely get better deals. that price doesn't include the monitor so i'm not sure if that's out of your budget. it should give you an idea. you could get a cheaper case and psu. id personally look at an 23" IPS monitor that's a similar price to the TN monitor you listed
