Toshiba DVD ROM not working

Can anyone help me? my toshiba sd-m1212 wil not work under xp. i don't know if the drive is shot or what. Xp home edition recognizes it but it doesn't read ANYTHING.

PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Check if your cabel is connected properly and that the jumper is set right.

My case has so many fans that it hovers above the ground .

Just guessing here, but in the past, the CD-ROM drives I've seen on older systems have been attached by SCSI. Might be possible.

insert a cd on your dvd drive.
if the dvd drive light switch on few seconds & switch off, your dvd drive is certainly right because it has recognized your cd.


if you know you don't know, the way could be more easy.
