Hello all,

I have notice a recent problem with my modem: every time I put the machine
in standby, after resume the modem does not work correctly. The driver is
corrupted or something of the sort (no error messages, just the following
symptoms). Sometimes it won't detect the dial tone when I can hear that it
IS there. Sometimes it will only dial a couple of numbers and then stop.
Sometimes it won't dial at all. Etc. etc. etc. The only way to resolve the
problem that I have found is to reboot.

This machine is a Dell Inspiron 8200 (laptop in a docking station). The
only changes that we have made is the most recent updates/fixes to Windows
XP Pro (and I'm not talking about SP2, I believe that the modem was working
fine after SP2. The 2 most recent updates were "Cum. Sec. Update for IE for
Win XP SP2" on 11-13-04 and "Critical Update for Office XP on Win XP SP2" on
11-11-04). The other thing we have been doing differently is that we have
been sharing the internet connection with a new computer: Dell Dimension
8400 w/ Windows XP MCE.

Has anyone encountered this issue of the modem not working after standby?
Does anyone know of a possible way to fix this problem?

Thank you for any help anyone can offer,

Conan Kelly
