Male to male fan connectors

hi all,

i have just bought a new aftermarket fan for the back of my case + an extension cable so it can reach,
however, the connection at the end of the extension is 'male', with the pins sticking out, so is the end of the fan cable ,
my question is, seeing as they are just metal contacts, can i simply solder the two together?

any help would be greatly apreciated

you should be able to. Just be sure to make sure it doesnt short against the case...
