MSI HD6870 not reporting temperature

I just got back my HD 6870 Hawk from MSI's RMA process. The card appears to function correctly, but doesn't seem to report temperature: both the Piriform "Speccy" program and ATI's own Catalyst Control Center don't register a temperature from the video card.

Did I miss a step when hooking the card back up to my motherboard?

Solution
Try to use GPU-z or MSI afterburner to see if it can read the temperature. However if Catalyst control center can't read it then something could be wrong with the temperature probe or on the card.

Both MSI Afterburner and GPU-z report matching temperatures, around 40C at idle and 60C+ when gaming.

How very odd that the official Catalyst software cannot read it, but third-party software can.
