I am building a new system this week (when parts arrive).

This is my first build in a long time, and very first with an SSD as the OS drive. I keep reading about ACHI settings, but I don't really understand what that is and how I make sure it is turned on. Is that in BIOS? Control panel?

What do I need to do on a new build to ensure the SSD is operating as efficiently as possible?

Thanks for helping out,
Bradenthefirst

My setup:
CPU i7-3770k
MoBo: ASRock H77 Pro4/MVP
SSD: Samsung 830 128GB
HDD: WD Caviar 1TB
Memory: 2x4GB GSkill ripjaw 1600
Case: Corsair 200r
PSU - corsair 430W
Optical: Liteon iHas324

AHCI should be enabled in the BIOS via the Storage Configuration Menu. Then set the SATA Mode Selection option to AHCI. Connect your SSD to SATA3_0 port and your HDD to another port. When installing Windows, you might have to load the AHCI controller drivers for Windows to recognize your drives. These drivers are found on your motherboard's driver/utility disc.
