Hello, new member here! First thread!
I have been researching for weeks now and I have these components for my hardcore gaming desktop. I am asking you guys to consider this list and see any imperfections here. My budget is about $3000 and since this is a lot I want a super duper gaming rig for the money. Since I have been researching a lot, I think this is pretty much a perfect build. Then again, there are more experienced people here and maybe they could suggest some tweaks.

first off, the 2011 chipset is made for professionals in terms of video editing and such. You can easily get the same gaming performance with a i5 3570k. the 680 is just a bit better than the 670 and not worth the cost, either get the 670 or 7970 GHz.

Also the ram is DDR2 which will not fit in the 240pin DDR3. And i am guessing Lord mistook it because it said 4GB(2x2GB) which i would say is not very efficient.(also forgot to mention that 2011 does not support PCIe 3.0) And you would be crazy to cool the 2011 socket with a 212 plus, at least get the 212 evo.

why on earth do you only have 4gbs of ram and why is it DDR2?????? you should, upgrade that to 16GBs of 1600mhz corsair vengance, you current memory isnt even compatible with your system.

downgrade the i7-3930k to an i7-3770k and pick up a second 680
the motherboard would also have to change to fit the 3770k, i would recommend the ASrock extreme6

finally, that monitor seems good, however a monitor with 2ms GTG response time is preferable for games

I have 16GB of ram (look closely) and how is it not compatible?
the CPU specs are awesome, I don't wanna downgrade it. and whats 680?
The motherboard has the same socket, I checked
About the monitor, I wouldn't notice a 3ms difference...

Wrong - LGA 2011 CPUs *DO* support PCI 3.0. In fact they supported PCI 3.0 before Ivy Bridge came out.

Ahh, my bad, the last time i had actually used/built a 2011 was when it didn't support PCIe 3.0 and people were complaining that their GPU was only running at 2.0

Yeah that's a quick fix in the BIOS - I haven't built an LGA 2011 system yet but I'm definitely aware that they support PCI 3.0.
