I went ahead and downloaded 3DMark2001 to run some more benchmarks, since Tom seems to use this all the time.

I have a ATI Radeon 7500 OEM version. My FSB is set at 140, that's probably overclocking the card a little I would imagine.

The score I get on 3DMark2001 is 3501. That's in the 1024 x 768 x 32 test.

The results Tom shows is 4378. That's pretty much 20% lower than his benchmark tests. I'm quite confused about this now.

If you are wondering about other components...

Gigabyte GA-7VTXH+ MOBO (FSB set at 140)
Athlon XP 1600+ Processor (running at 1470Mhz)
OCZ PC2400 DDR 512MB (256 x 2)
ATI Radeon 7500 OEM(latest October drivers)
Maxtor 40GB 7200 ATA133/100 Harddrive
DirectX 8.1
Windows 2000 Professional

Any ideas?? I was hoping to get at least Tom's numbers. I did this in Quality and Performance Modes, got about the same score.

That's because you are running the OEM version! It's clocked at 270MHz instead of 290MHz.

Use powerstrip or another program called Raid-on. I'm not sure where they are exactly. Search on Google.

something must still be wrong :(

I am using powerstrip 3.12 right now

I overlocked...

Engine clock...270 Mhz
Memory clock...230 Mhz

actually freaks me out a little that is high for the memory according to powerstrip

From everything I can tell, those are the same settings Tom had. I now get 3606 from the test, and he shows 4378.

I really think i'm pushing this as well. According to Powerstrip 3.12, the Engine clock is in the Yellow at 270Mhz, so not being pushed to hard, but the Memory Clock is in the Red at 229.50Mhz, so being pushed pretty hard i think.

If you buy a pre-packaged pc, shame on you

Just curious, have you tried Powerstrip. Do you know if radeontweaker is better?
