Vsync Makes GPU Hot?

So I was playing a not so demanding game, League of Legends. I turned off vsync and watched my fps go from 54C to 62C, when playing with vsync on it only goes to a max of 56C, why does this happen?

Because Vsync limits the framerate therefore the card does not have to work as hard.
