Hello everyone, i am wondering about how i should build my new computer, as i do 3d rendering, and the specs i have now are not enough.
FYI: I use Maxwell Render and Cinema 4D's Physical and Standard Render.
Quad Core Ivy Bridge 3770k 4.0 GHz (overclock)
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Nvidia GTX 560 (stock)
Asrock z77 Extreme4 Motherboard
1666 DDR3 Ram 8GB
800 Watt PSU
120gb Sandisk SSD
Rosewill Thor Case
The exact question I'm wondering is should i build a renderfarm, or build one powerful computer. If my memory serves, i think its much better to spread information over multiple CPU cores. I'm also leaning towards Intel, but as far as the renderfarm goes I've been thinking to get 5 AMD Vishera 8 cores, giving me a total of 40 cores. I have also pondered of GPU rendering, having tried Octane and others, but they are still very limited and need at least 5 years to improve. But as far as a single computer, i thought a Dual Intel Xeon should do the job, what are your thoughts? You could also recommend cases and cooling as i am kinda lost there two. For my RAM i think 16gb should be fine.
So in simpler terms,
Many connected Barebone Computers or a Server Processor?
the graphic cards is nice but it couldnt deliver the maximum performance in rendering or gaming either, you should switch to the EVGA GTX 680 Superclocked and get 5x 120 Kingston HyperX 3K SSD and a raid controller if you have some money. Trust me, IN rendering it will be stupid fast
Thanks for the reply, but i cant use the GPU for rendering, unless it's a Renderer which utilizes it, unfortunately that's still in the early stages, as fast as they are, i must wait awhile for them to mature. As far as games, yes, some like Crysis require a better GPU or Skyrim with mods. GTA 5 will also be another CPU hog, of course my Ivy Bridge will max out any Game CPU usage for at least 5-10 years, but that's another story, as far as rendering animations and still shots it's slow. But OpenGL in the viewport of a program like Maya or Zbrush, a new GPU would be nice, SLI of course isn't necessary unless i have multiple screens.
