Graphics card choices for a gaming pc. Mid budget.

Hello forum. This is my first post here. so hi! :hello:

My pc needs an upgrade and i'm stuck on which graphics card to get. I'll mostly be playing games, youtube, slight photo editing, splash enhanced movies, etc.

this is my pc:-

{Intel 3 GHz LGA 1155 Core i5-2320 Processor}
{ASUS P8H67-M LX Motherboard}
{G.Skill RipjawsX DDR3 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) PC RAM (F3-17000CL11D-8GBXL)}
{Iball Sprinter 600 psu}
{Cooler Master Elite 310 Cabinet (Blue)}
{2 hdds (1x120gb) (1x500gb)}
{Asus NVIDIA GeForce GT 520 2 GB DDR3 Graphics Card}

I'm in India and the options are a bit limited here. I currently have a 1400 x 900 17" monitor, but i will change it next year. My current gup works, painfully :( , but it did play crysis 2 on the lowest settings so it isn't all bad, but i want get something better that will last me for the next 4-5 yrs.
I was looking at these...

I would like to play heavily... but i could compromise if it at least run games at reasonable frames.
which would suggest? And would i need to change my PSU? Or is it even worth changing? Please help.

  1. I would agree with rolli59, however i think that a 7870 could work really well for you if it is in budget. I personally feel that the Gtx 660 has bandwidth problems, and others have reported that also.,3148.html
  2. Never worth the wait since after March something new will be coming out.
  3. The 7850 is a great value. I would go with that. Don't wait for new stuff as there will always be something new around the corner.
  4. lol with my budget at the moment, i really should be looking at the 550 ti, but i don't wan't to miss out on the much better cards on offer. Plus wen the new cards come out, current card prices will drop right?

    But my current 520 is the real problem. I can't really play any good games and enjoy them at the moment.

    Is their a low end solution? like maybe a low cost card better then the 520 to hold me until next year? that would really help!

    @maestro is the his 7850 a good option? or should i just go with a cheaper 1gb sapphire?
  5. Even 550Ti is a massive upgrade from the GT520.
  6. your options from best to least desirable:
    MSI AMD R7850 Power Edition
    HIS AMD H785QN2G2M
    HIS AMD/ATI Radeon HD 6870 IceQ X
    ZOTAC NVIDIA Geforce GTX 550 Ti
  7. The 1Gb model doesn't seem that much slower in benchmarks, especially if you stay around 1080p. I had a 2GB version from MSI though. If you are limited by your budget, a 7770 is a good card too.

    lol yeah, I got scammed by the 2gb ram, didn't know anything about hardware back then...

    is the 7770 a good card? I heard that it has a lot of issues that made it undesirable.

    Also, does anyone know about my PSU? An Iball sprinter 600W. i can't find any reviews about it. It is quite popular here in India but I don't know if it would support the 7870 or the 7850.
