hello,i have purchased a new ASUS gtx 550 ti DirectCU(910 mhz) card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121435 and want to install it on my pc.my motherboard is gigabyte 945GCM-S2L http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2669#ov and PSU is Corsair CMPSU-430CXV2UK 430 Watts http://www.flipkart.com/corsair-cmpsu-430cxv2uk-430-watts-psu/p/itmd5xz5qs9mhqmq .there is a PCI-Express Power Cable as shown in http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/GeForce_GTX_550_Ti_Direct_Cu/2.html given with the card, but i dont know where and how to connect it.i know the card should be fit in slot, but what s the use of this cable.before this card i had hd4350 and it fitted directly in the slot and worked. So,i am a little bit confused with the new card.plz help me to install this card.thanks.

Solution

your wont need that cable.that cable is for older power supplys that dont have any pci power plugs. your power supply has one.

it the one on the top of the photo it a 6 pin plus 2. the plugs are keys and can only go one way into the top of the card.
pci video card some of them need more the 75w to run. the pci slot cant give the card all the voltage in needs so vendors have to use one or two extra power plugs for there power hungry cards.
