My new EVGA GTX 660 Ti FTW is perfoming horribly in 3dmark - why?

I used to have a GTX 470 that ran GREAT. I gave it to my son b/c his old 8800 GTS dies.

So, I bought a 660 Ti, FTW edition.

I just ran 3dMark with the last WHQL drivers and the latest beta drivers, and I only got
X2943

I compared to other people with even lesser systems than mine, and they have scores that are 4 times higher!!!

My framerates for each test were literally between 5-15 fps!!!

What's going on here?

I do have a PCE 2.0, instead of 3.0, but I read that only makes a small difference in performance.

I have a Asrock P67 Extreme6, Core i7 2600k, 8 gig of corsair vengeance, 3 SSDs, and 3 HDs, 650W corsair PSU. My system has been running rock stable at 4.4GHZ for quite a long time. I used to run almost every single game at max settings with my old 470! What happened???

Ok, here's what I got:

I was gonna attach a pic, but too much of a pain..

Here's what it said.

GeForce GTX 660 Ti

Cores 1344
Base Clock 1045Mhz
Boost Clock 1124Mhz
Memory 2048 MB

Seems correct to me.

look at to the section I've circled, did it show 16@x16 or show different number? (maybe 16@x4 or 16@x1)

YOu are running 3d mark in extreme? Of course your score will be low. Not sure how folks with less specs than you are getting 4 times better scores in extreme. Maybe you should try running the performance preset in 3dmark. (assuming you mean 3dmark11)

Ok, it showed this when the video card is idle:

PCI-E 2.0x16 @ 16 1.1

When I click the '?' and do the render test, it shows:

PCI-E 2.0x16 @ 16 2.0

I'll launch a few and check.. I have a bunch installed, just not sure what the best game to test would be. I'll try GW2 for starters, but I was running RaiderZ yesterday with no problems. I can't understand why my 3dmark scores are 4x less on other people's systems, same config for the most part. I don't get it.

Also, on my old video card, I used to be able to run 16 videos at the same time with 0 slowdown in any of them. I tried that yesterday with this new card, and many were getting choppy or stalling/freezing. They were HQ mp4 (hidef) so I'm not if I ran the same exact test on the old card... but I'd run a bunch of different video formats with 0 slowdown on the old card.

I really should rip the old card out of my son's machine and run 3dmark again just to see what results I get.

okay..thats mean your graphic card is okay..

actually i think your score with 660Ti in 3dmark 11 extreme preset is okay...

you can see the benchmark of another 660Ti

take from : http://hothardware.com/Reviews/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-660-T...

You can see that others card score around x2800 -x2900

your friend with lesser system must be using performance preset..not extreme one..

try to switch your benchmark to performance preset, you'll get score 4 times higher than extreme one...

AHHH, Ok, I was wondering about the 'x'... I just run all my games at max settings, and I see great framerates, so the framerates in the teens on 3dmark seems strange as hell to me.

Thanks guys. I can breath again. :)

I got an x2943 with the latest beta drivers, so I guess that's pretty good from the chart you showed me.

YAY.

Thanks guys.
