Graphics card\onboard graphics with Win8

Last response: in Windows 8

Hello, I wonder if anyone can shed any light on this, I have a ga-m68m-s2p revision 1 which has onboard graphics from Nvidia - I'm attempting to turn off the onboard graphics to use a dedicated gts450 in the BIOS but when I do this the screen pixleates and fails to bring up anything but with the onboard graphics enabled it boots fully and using the monitor that is connected to the graphics card. It's also worth noting that I've removed the nvidia drivers from Win8 that came with it to force the onboard graphics to use Microsofts generic drivers.

I've attempted at disabling the onboard graphics with the device manager but to no avail. For some other reason the DM also lists a non generic monitor being connected - even when non is connected to the onboard graphics.

try installing the newest bios f5 it for update for onboard gpu.
on page 39 of the mb guild set your primany video to pci slot. if not then peg. then onboard gpu two lines disabled. nake sure the video cable on the gpu and all the power plugs are connected. the other issue could be a power supply issue what the size and wasttage/amps rating on it.
if it a bios/chipset issue try with the newest nvidia control panel set the onboard to monitor 2 and set gpu as monitor one video.

Hi, the BIOS has already been updated to F5, if I disable the onboard graphics in any way or make the GTS450 primary then Windows 8 fails to boot up to the home screen, I don't think it's the PSU as the hardware hasn't changed since Windows 7
