Does SLI work if you have a motherboard with a PCI-E slot 2.0 x16 and 3.0 x16?

@title.. so does it work if I put in 2 of the same graphic cards into a 2.0 x16 pci-e slot and a 3.0 x16 pci-e slot. I'm not sure if my motherboard supports it.
