HD Video Playback (crashing) Issues

I recently purchased a new HP Desktop to replace my old P4 3Ghz PC with 1MB Ram (which seemed to do a better job then my new setup below)
While playing various HD compressed videp=o files in both 720p & 1080p, on any of the three software players installed, VLC, Freesmith, or DA Player, all movies crash after less than a minute and player either restarts or returns to blank start screen. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. My PC and Video Card specs below:

More about video playback crashing issues
  1. Just checked that my Power Supply is only 300W and the video card recommends 400W minimum. Could that be causing the videos to stop suddenly?
