7870 or 7970

I need a little advice on the graphics card I am getting for my new PC that I'm building. I am planning to use it for gaming, game recording and video rendering and I wondered whether the 7970 would be overkill (I do like breathing space).

It would depend on if you want to be able to max all current games out and also your monitor res 7970 would not be overkill for 1920 X1080 and up if you want to go cheaper i recommend the 7950

If you can afford it, then get the 7970. In the long run you will be happy. If you do though get a GHZ
