The cross fire usually preforms better especially since they are both overclocked. The extra 6GB is good for higher resolutions but so is crossfire.

What resolution are you playing at and what are your system specs? I never recommend multi gpu setups cuz they still have issues. I say buy the fastest single gpu you can afford. The extra 3GB on the Toxic are really wasted as one 7970 cannot play multi LCDs all that well without crossfire. I would go with the 3GB version.

BTW is the difference between Sapphire AMD Radeon HD 7970 Vapor-X GHz Edition, 6GB GDDR5 and Sapphire AMD Radeon HD 7970 Vapor-X GHz Edition, 3GB GDDR5 just that the other has more VRAM? So even if i can afford the 6 GB easily, you would recommend the 3 GB?

the 6gb version has dual bios which increases the base and boost clock of the card by 50MHz each.. otherwise they are the saem apart from those extra 3gb memory.. but i would suggest you just get the fastest single gpu as your display is 1080p only .. at that res extra vram doesnt come into picture..
