I'm looking at building upon a CPU from a computer I'm buying from my school, and have been looking very strongly at th 7850. However down at MSY here in Australia, I found a 7870 for $5 more than the XFX on newegg. I'm wondering which one would be a better buy, if I got the 7850 I'd probably feel overclocking it a little bit (I'm not a hardcore enthusiast, just looking to play skyrim maxed out at 1080p) but the HIS seems to lack the proper double fan cooling and would probably leave it at stock. Which offers better performance, seeing as they are literally just about the same price.
Also, if I was to buy the 7850 I might crossfire in a few years when they begin to get really outdated. But thats not an option right now as I want to spend $230AU max.
Alternatively there is a HIS 7850 for only $160, also local, but I felt that it might be a bit too cheap.
Rig specs will be slowly upgraded as follows:
AsRock Extreme4 Z77 Mobo
Sandy Bridge i5 (not sure yet exact model, might even be a power saving one - will also eventually upgrade to Ivy Bridge
8gb RAM (not fussed over what to get, fancy RAM is over rated I reckon)
ThermalTake 750W PSU (probably start off with a 550W for one card though)
