Computer keeps locking up

Hi,

I'm not sure if I am using the term lock up right, but it seems that my computer is freezing for about a second at a time. The screen keeps the picture, but there is a buzzing sound.

This happens no matter what programs I am running, it happens when I watch a video on Youtube, or playing Sleeping Dogs; the only difference is the rate at which these lockups occur.

This only starting happening yesterday, and I have not installed any new hardware, and only installed some games that have not given me problems in the past.

I am not sure if this is a hardware or software problem, and any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

How would I be able to test my PSU and see how stable it is? I have a XFX PRO 850W XXX Edition 80 Plus Silver PSU and i really don't see how power fluctuations would occur now.

Uninstall the games you installed and see if it keeps up. Just a thought.

I tried uninstalling the games that I had recently installed. It does not seem to have helped.

I installed the new nvidia drivers and that also has not helped.

I do not know what to do at this point.

I think at this point I would classify it as a stutter.
