"Mode Not Supported" When connecting laptop to tv through hdmi cable

I just recently purchased a HP Envy m4 with windows 8. It has an intel hd 4000 on board video card. I'm using a HDMI cable trying to hook it up to my LED Samsung tv. My model is the 6000 series (UN40B6000VF)

I definitely know the HDMI cable isn't messed up because when I use the same cable to connect my desktop to my tv it is able to clone the displays perfectly fine. I've tried updating the video drivers, I've tried changing the resolutions and that's all I can basically think of. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
