I can't decide which CPU I should build with for xbox videogame recording and video editing & some pc gaming...
I probably won't overclock or crossfire, only looking to spend around $750-$800 total on my build

Motherboards im thinking H77 or 990FX
GPU im thinking just a 7770

Any suggestions?

What kind of games are you looking to play? Anyway, If the 8350 is cheaper, get it. It will make rendering very fast. The 8350 will better for recording xbox and better for editing. However, the 3570k will be better in gaming, so thats something to consider. I personally would get the 8350 for your needs, and that is coming from an intel fanboy! Good luck with your build!

i was looking at an i5 3570k but i dont really plan on overclocking

so would the i5 3470 be better or about the same as the 8350?
and if going with the 8350 what mobo and gpu would be good?

the games i plan on playing are: the war z, day z standalone, apb, and possibly arma 3. besides that, im a console gamer

i like the asrock extreme 3/4 for amd motherboards, will be buying one next week
the above advice is true -for video editing/rendering/transcoding, cores and clock are king 8350 has both in spades, for gaming an i5 is better all rounder, but with dx 11 games (current and upcoming standard) theres very little in it either way, the most quoted example is battle feild 3 wich the 8350 just monsters
for me id have the amd rig but either will do you well for at least 2 years before it starts to SEEM slow
BTW
after youve mastered mouse and keyboard gaming you wont have consolitus anymore! trust me on this joypads are not the correct tool for fps shooters this is a fact and also the reason you have auto aim on consoles because joy apds suck donkeys ;)

If you are going to be doing videos more than gaming, the 8350 will be better for you. Video editing programs like more cores, and the 8350 has that in its favor. Something like a 650ti or a 7850 will do you fine for your games. I would look at the GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3, but you should look around for other info/reviews because im not a big AMD guy.

well since my budget is $800 max for everything I need this is what I have just figured out I can probably go with...

FX-8320..... $159
ASUS M5A97..... $99
XFX HD 7770..... $119
all from tigerdirect.com

This good for what I plan on doing?

Looks good.

But if you get the gaming bug and want to crossfire, the 970 chipset will limit you. (However you still have one X16 lane that can handle any single high end card on the market.)

Not much of a difference , nothing you could notice , same chip in reality . I bought mine at Tiger for 179.00 , caught the deal . Guess they ran out again , think it was down to 159 0r 169 .
You got a good set up , don't worry , both chips OC to the same level

Wicked! Well I appreciate it. I have finally found all the parts to my first build so can't wait til I get em here.

Quick question, since we are running almost the same set up, will a 500W PSU be fine since I don't plan on overclocking anytime soon?

Sure , I run the 8350 on a 550 watt psu , my 1100t on a 550 and the 1090 on a 620 , a good 450 would be enough , I just like to have some overhead , plus the psu will not work as hard .
Is it a good name brand psu ?
