APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: A Week Maybe? BUDGET RANGE: $175.00 Max After Rebates

USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Youtube, Mediocre Video Editing. Non-Intense Gaming. I play The Sims 2(not 3), Minecraft, Sim City(When its released). No desire to play FPS games. GTA occasionally. Dolphin Emulation is a must.

CURRENT GPU AND POWER SUPPLY: Building a new system, will have either a CX500 or CX600. I use an HD2400 Pro...

OTHER RELEVANT SYSTEM SPECS: i5 3470, 8GB Ram, ASRock Pro4-M Mobo

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: I like Newegg...USA

PARTS PREFERENCES: None Really. NVidias drivers are easier to work with..

OVERCLOCKING: Highly Doubt It. SLI OR CROSSFIRE: I dont plan on it.

MONITOR RESOLUTION: I have a 1920x1080 (HDMI) and a 1440x900 (DVI). Ive always preferred to play games on the small monitor, but ive never had a system that could run the big monitor.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:...Not obnoxiously loud.

I have right now a 7850 picked out, with 2GB Vram...on Rebate its $150. But i know that 1GB is sufficient for most high end games, assuming your not running multiple monitors. And i don't play any high end games...and i don't plan on it. It seems to me like that card would be completely overkill. Should i go for a 7770 instead? That way i dont have to mess with a rebate, and i have a little extra money...which would be nice.

Thanks.

i would tell you to get the 7850 so you can use the 1080p monitor, much better in my opinion, and it will last you much much longer

With what he is doing, I'm pretty sure he could do 1080p with a 7770

the 7850 2GB is substantially better don't hobble your new build, wishing you had filled out the rebate form when your new game stutters or you have to turn the options down

Ok, so the 7850 is like really noticably better in not to demanding games like Minecraft and Sim City 2013?

I see the SAPPHIRE 100355-1GOCL Radeon HD 7850 1GB for $174.99 after $15.00 rebate card, that seems to hit your budget max.

Only high end games will use more than 1GB or memory when MSAA is enabled at high settings like the new game 'Hitman Absolution.'

If you play light games, a 7770 or 650 Ti will do.

So am i correct in that it goes 7770, 650ti, 7850, worst to best? And whichever one i can afford is kinda what i should go with?

I have been reading that the PSU requirement on these is majorly exaggerated. Is that correct, and could i get by with a 430 Watt Corsair PSU? Cause i can get one for dirt cheap.

Get that, it's a quality PSU. Put the extra money in a 7850.

Yes the 430w corsair will do for any of those cards.

Either go with galaxy 650 ti or the xfx 7850 1GB.
If you like nvidia better and dont care for perfomance go with 650 ti (has assassins creed 3 for free), if you want more performance for $ go with the 7850 1GB

Well ok. I think the 650ti will be sufficient for me, and i definitely prefer NVidia's drivers. We'll see how i feel tomorrow. Thank You Guys.
