Replacing a g router with a n router

Hello,
I currently have a linksys G router. I have a new laptop and now need to replace the G router with a D-link N router that came with my new laptop. While reading the instructions on the CD for the N router, it states that I need to connect it the same computer that I connected the G router to. the problem is - the Desktop router had a hardrive failure weeks ago so I cannot use it - what do i do?
