I'm doing a build here and found one of those Thermaltake Cable Management 750W power supplies. It's several years old but never been used. I've poked around the3 web and found some old reviews but wanted a more recent take on it. It was very well reviewed at JonnyGuru.com but that was in 2006.

What are your opinions of this ps for a "modern" build?

MOBO: ASRock Z77 Pro3 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4000 BX80637I53570K

Just for a basic idea of what I'm building.

At $40 US I just couldn't pass up this power supply.

thanks!

MK

I'm busted but man, :non: but this thing has never been used! It smells better than any new car I've ever been in! lol

I was considering going Crossfire at some point... Btw, your advice on that Quad Core i5-3750K alone was golden. I've been researching it today and that thing is an overclocker's dream and chew's up any game u can throw at it!

If you are going to CF and overclock, then, yes, you will need 750W. It's your call. In the build I suggested the CPU is not the "k" version of the 3570 so make sure that you do get a Z77 motherboard if you get the 3570k. You might have to drop that 7950 down to a 7850 if you are still looking to be in that price range, then you can CF later.

Oh yea. I definitely am going with the Z77 and the "K" version. There is no local store to pick up the other cpu at but for the extra money, I feel this setup will serve me very well for a couple years and that build has some decent headroom. It looks like that LGA-1155 shows no signs of becomming obselete for quite some time!
