Skyrim in 3D

Hi guys,

I am thinking about upgrading this Christmas to play Skyrim in 3D. Can you please advise on a graphics card (any comments about the build will be much appreciated), which will be powerful enough to deliver Hight/Extreme Quality/Texture at least at a mn of 30 FPS.

I got now:

Asus MB (£50)
CPU - Core2Duo E8400 OC @3.4 Ghz
GPU - PTY GTX 460 OC 800 Mhz
PSU - OCZ 600 Watts
4GB RAM (2x2)
Western Digital 500GB Blue - Boot
Western Digital 2TB Green- Data

I think that I will need:

AsRock Z68 Pro3 Gen3 MB (£70)
CPU - i5-3570K (£170)
GPU - PNY GTX 670 XLR8 (£280)
PSU - XFX PRO 850W Core Edition (£90)
Corsair 16GB 1600MHz CL10 DDR3 Vengeance Memory Kit RAM (£60)
Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB SSD - Boot (£80)
Western Digital 500GB Blue - Data
Western Digital 2TB Green- Data

Do you think that I will be able to play Skyrim in 3D at Very High Settings?

Many thanks,

More about skyrim
  1. you'll want a z77 motherboard. the z68s usually aren't natively compatible with the ivy bridge (most of them you have to do a firmware update before you can do it)

and are you going to play skyrim with a ton of mods? if so, you'll want to get either the GTX 670 4 GB vesion or a 7950 3GB version cause you'll definitely go past 2 GB vram usage.
  2. If you want to use AMD, you'll have to make sure it supports HDMI 1.4a, and you'll be limited to 720p if you want 60hz game play. This is assuming you want to use a TV for your 3D needs.

If you go with Nvidia, you may be able to get away with HDMI 1.3, but it is not natively supported by Nvidia, and you must use Nvidia 3dtv play. You should look up their list for compatible displays online.

Also, Skyrim does not currently work well with 3D at all. The shadows and water are a mess, but there is a modding community for 3D Vision that has fixed it for 3D Vision.
    Go here:

I use those mods, and they make Skyrim in 3D, awesome.
