Hi all,

I am putting together a parts list for a small form-factor gaming computer and have decided to ask for your opinions on the matter of the Noctua mounting plate touching some of the small components on the reverse side of the motherboard. The following image shows exactly what the problem may be:

Do you guys think it would be an issue if I were to tighten the mounting plate with the rubber feet resting on the small components or should I cut small pieces off of the rubber to go around the components as seen below:

Thanks for any input.

As it is rubber, I don't think it would be an issue with it coming in contact with the IC and resistor on the motherboard as long as you don't tighten the living daylights out of the screws, i think those kits only allow you to tighten so hard. With that being said, I personally would feel better if all you had to do was nip the tip off the little pads so nothing comes in contact with the components. If they are clipped and after tightening down nothing was touching them, I would probably go with that. However, like I said, it probably wouldn't cause any issues.

I know that is a vague answer. If either choice isn't really an issue, just go with your gut.
