Low profile card in Mid Tower ATX case

I just finished my build and use a NZXT M59 case. It is a mid tower ATX case and I have a Low profile bracket sized HIS HD Radeon 7850. Should it be able to fit? I tried putting it in and it wouldn't seat in correctly because the low profile bracket was in the way. From what I know other people have put in low profile cards in their mid tower cases, why should my case be any different? I can only seat half of the card in there and can't seat the other side where it's stopped by my metal protective bracket. Would buying a low-profile bracket adapter solve this issue?

Many low profile cards come with two back plates that are interchangeable for that purpose. I have not seen a low profile HD7850 before and was unable to find one on their page.
