zip on a 80 pin cable?

Apoligies for the newbie question. Can I attach my old internal zip 100 onto the 80 pin cable that goes to my maxtor ata 100 40 GB. The other cable goes to my burner and regular cd-rom.

yes you can, however be WARNED that the zip drive may excessively slow down your hard drive.
best to have the zip drive on its own channel.

pooba is right, I've seen SEVERE performance problems operating a hard drive and ZIP drive on the same cable!

yeah... read something a while back about them.
IIRC its cauz zip drives operate exclusively in PIO mode (yuck) and attaching a HDD to the same channel also makes the hard drive run in PIO mode. not very nice :frown:
