I have:

  • ■1 ghz thunderbird AXIA Y @ 1472mhz
    ■thermo engine
    ■Iwill KK266-R
    ■512 ram 2*256 (crucial cas 2) @ 155mhz
    ■gainward geforce 2mx
    ■sblive 5.1
    ■56k modem
    ■2 * IBM 60gxp 40 gig in raid 0
    ■toshiba dvd rom
    ■mirai 16x writer

have all the above working fine for 6 months
bought an enermax 350 watt power supply in the interest of making the pc silent.

had new enermax delivered to work and tested it working on a pc there.

brought it home and installed set to my 240 volts connected no problems etc..

<b>the pc won't power up :(</b>

however it has powered up when I first shoved the power lead in the PSU without me hitting the button :(

I have been able to make it power up a couple of time by pulling the lead out and putting in again  multiple times. but the thing doesn't power up with the normal switch properly and rarely when I'm pulling the lead in and out :(

I have the same effect with no drives attached to the PSU only the motherboard.

my power LED sits there half lit which it doesn't do with my existing PSU when the PC if turned off.

my old power supply is now back in and working fine but I'm stuck for ideas as to what I could do next.

I think

  • ■possibly the enermax PSU has failed in transit during the journey home, unlikely they are supposed to be reliable.
■there is an incompatibility with the motherboard and powersupply,
■some other stupid thing I don't know about.

thank for any one with advice

If it works when you put the lead back in, then it sounds like there is a dodgey connection there.
Test the conductivity of it, and try the thing on your work PC again.
