I'm about to purchase an Intel D850, and see that there is very little difference between ECC/non-ECC RDRAM prices. I figure 512MB shoud be enough to run XP Pro, and this is a home PC intended for general use with occasional gaming.

What speed penalty would I pay for using ECC memory?

Minor - If could impact your FPS a little. It is adding extra bits per read write cycle to confirm the validity of the information. So in essence it is doing a little more work but it is going to be accurate.

Anyone out there have any link/source to confirm this?
