It is a scratch built PC I'm looking for some sort of generic download that
will allow me on-line so I can update to a more appropriate one. Although I
appriciate your intrest in helping, basic baby steps are not needed, thank
you. But if you have more specific advise I'm all ears.

You're going to have to take the card out of the PC and identify it by the
FCC number on the card.

Or even simpler, just go out and buy a new one for about $10.00

If you build a PC, you should know what is in it. It's only OEM models that
folks generally have difficulty in identifying parts. It's one of the main
reasons folks do their own builds.

Many sites claim they have protman.dos but after many hrs of searching only
one actually had it www.driverguide.com and I would recommend it to one and
all, as for finding the driver for the card, well.... needles and haystacks
spring to mind and I've decided to give it up as a bad job and just buy a
new one

Thanxz all anyways

Try this, open Control Panel, open System, go to the Hardware tab, click
Device manager, scroll to Network adapters, click the plus sign, that might
not only reveal the manufacturer of the NIC but the model number as well.
Then you could go directly to the manufacturer's website for the download.

Or, you could install the following free application that might identify it
as well, Belarc Advisor, www.belarc.com
