Help me choose parts for my new computer

Hello wonderful people,

I am starting a course in Game design at University in a few weeks and will need a new computer to deal with the high demand of software I will be using.
Needs to work with high detail modelling, mapping, sound editing and photoshop.
I will be gaming on this PC.

I am happy to get the base of the system set up with room to upgrade later. (like getting a little ram so it works then getting 16-32gb later)
I have around $1,000 to spend right now.

The computer I am using is good so hopefully I can implement some of its parts.
(Will absolutely need a new storage device, 2tb would be good)

I have some parts already, Should I use them or sell them?
Parts I already own:
Sapphire HD 7770 GHz edition (Bought new)
ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series (Has 2 fans on it)
Asus DRW-2014L1T ATA device (blue ray drive)
DTSOFT Virtual CdRom Device (DVD drive)
4GB RAM (can't find any company name)
Using a Sony flat screen as a monitor via HDMI (Keeping this but thought I should mention I'm using a TV and not a monitor)

Please help guys.
