Old PC won't boot properly, have to power on and off multiple times before displ

Hello, I'm not sure what is wrong with my laptop, it is older and for a while now has not been booting properly. There is no display or beep and I have to power it on, let it sit, force power off, power on, let sit, force off, over and over until an error message pops up - for the time clock! Any suggestions or help?
