Hi. I have an aten cs1642 dual dvi-d switch. I also have two monitors one Dell 3007wfp-hc and one dell 2405. If i connect my pc (EVGA GTX580 SC) directly to the monitors i have no problem. If i use the KVM i have no problem on the smaller monitor (dell 2405) but if i connect the big one (dell 3007wfp-hc) i am experiencing flashing green and red dots and flashing vertical lines in dark backgrounds.
Things i have done:
Tried different cables than the bundled ones - also used HQ ones with ferrite
Connected the console of the KVM with the default dell monitor cable and the rest with either the bundled cables or HQ aftermarket ones
Swapped the DVI ports where i connect the display on both my pc as well as on the KVM
Tried the KVM on a different pc (a mac mini) but with the same monitor
Exchanged the unit and received a new replacement.
The result is always the same. The KVM works OK with my other monitor but not with my Dell 30007WFP-HC.
What is puzzling is that this problem occurs in all resolutions ranging from 2560x1600 and downwards except one resolution: 1280x800. If i use this resolution on my Dell 3007wfp-HC i have no problem with the KVM.
This makes me thinking on whether there is incompatibility with my monitor since this monitor has no inbuilt scaler and as such can only accept two resolutions 1280x1800 and 2560x1600. Could it be that because there is no scaler there is also no monitor EDID and the KVM gets mixed up?
PS. I contacted Dell - they said since the monitor is working fine when connected directly there is no problem with the display.
I have also contacted aten and we are trying to troubleshoot this issue but so far we have been unsuccessful...
