suggest me a good graphic card alongwith a suitable psu...........my budget is around Rs.9000-10000. i would be using it mostly for gaming purpose with a resolution of (1400*900).......i would be buying it from CTC hyderabad this december which as far as i know is a place where u can get these components in a very cheap price......

my preferences are.......

1.ATI RADEON HD 7770 + Corsair VS450 450 Watts PSU
or
2.ATI RADEON HD 7750
or
3.ATI RADEON HD 6770
or
4.ATI RADEON HD 5770

well these are my choices......but pls i would be buying it only with ur necessary suggestions........also list some famous brands for the above mentioned graphic cards......besides the details of my system is listed below........

CORE I3 @ 2.93GHZ
4GB DDR3 RAM
500GB SEAGATE HARDISK
SAMSUNG SYNCMASTER B2030 MONITOR 21''
NVIDIA GEFORCE 9400GT 1GB(my current gpu which i want to upgrade)
IBALL PSU LPE223-400(250)
ASUS P7H55-M LX MOBO

apart from these details i also have some questions regarding this matter........

1.will the psu and the above mentioned graphic cards fit in my cabinet IBALL I612..?

2.what is the power consumption of these cards at FULL LOAD..?

3.which of these cards needs PCIE-6pin connector...?

4.is it possible to play modern games at high settings with either of these cards..?

5.is CORSAIR a good psu manufacturer....and will it be able to handle the graphic cards listed above without any problem....?

6.will a card having a PCIE-3.0 standard run on PCIE-2.0..?

thanking u & hoping for a prompt reply........

Get the 7770. The 450w PSU (Corsair is a good manufacturer) will be sufficient, but will not leave any room for upgrades.

go for door #1!

1.will the psu and the above mentioned graphic cards fit in my cabinet IBALL I612..?

yes, cases and PSUs are standard sized unless you are looking or a HTC build.

2.what is the power consumption of these cards at FULL LOAD..?

you're making do some homework here . .
5770 - 112 watts 6770 - 95 watts 7770 - 83 watts 7750 - 45 watts

3.which of these cards needs PCIE-6pin connector...?

all but the 7750

4.is it possible to play modern games at high settings with either of these cards..?

at your resolution of 1400x900 most have a fair chance with the 7770 leading the pack

5.is CORSAIR a good psu manufacturer....and will it be able to handle the graphic cards listed above without any problem....?

corsair has an excellent reputation and will handle all the cards.

6 .will a card having a PCIE-3.0 standard run on PCIE-2.0..?

yes.
PCI Express 3.0
PCI Express 3.0 Base specification revision 3.0 was made available in November 2010, after multiple delays. In August 2007, PCI-SIG announced that PCI Express 3.0 would carry a bit rate of 8 gigatransfers per second (GT/s), and that it would be backward compatible with existing PCIe implementations.

this seems to be the question of the day, fourth time i am answering it.

for the price/performance there is nothing in the market that compares to the 7770. you will be very please with the money spent, including for a PSU for the peace of mind.

prices for a corsair CX450:
Price: 2295
http://www.theitdepot.com/details-Corsair+Builder+Serie...(CMPSU-450VS)_C14P15861.html
Price: 2,450.00
http://www.theitwares.com/corsair-vs450-450w-builder-se...

unfortunately i could find a card within the budget. i'll post some links of what ones i saw and let you see:

looks like most of those prices are better than flipkart.

along with the CX 450 a 7770 is best and 7750 would next. try to avoid getting a 6770 or 5770. those are not as good as 7750.

the 77xx cards are so much better than anything before them.

yes your rig is good for that. i hope you find a good deal for a 7770 but a 7750 will do ok for 1400x900. you may not play all games at the highest settings but you will be happy with the money you spend.

i wish you well :)

thnks looniam.....i hope that i will find a good deal in buying 7770 otherwise i will go with hd 7750......well if corsair is not available what other psu's can i look for coolermaster, antec or seasonic.....well seasonic is very much costlier than the other two...can u suggest which one is the best apart from corsair......coz in here the dealer mainly focuses on coolermaster psu's coz it's pretty cheap than other psu's....but i know that it's quality is not good as corsair, antec, seasonic or any other leading psu manufacturers.......so wt is ur suggestion regarding this......?

you need not worry about the coolermaster PSU. 450W is sufficient to handle a 7770. If its a 7750, thn its even good for you. Anyway i think there will be a 1/2 years warranty along with it.... :)

i believe in your country that most coolermasters that are available are the extreme power plus and most all of those are horrible:

now if you are faced with a difficult choice, you could get by with a 350 watt PSU. if you do that you will need to use a 6 pin power adapter if you get a 7770. make sure you get a corsair, antec or seasonic and that it has 22+ amps on the 12 volt rail and using the adapter will not be a problem.

beware that will limit what you can upgrade to or doing any overclocking in the future! but that will be better than getting a higher wattage PSU that could fail with what you are using now.

u are right looniam.....personally i also think that coolermaster is not a good psu than others....i will try to buy corsair if it's available otherwise seasonic or antec......besides the psu i am having right now is having 17A in it's 12v rail so is that enough to power the hd 7750........?

a 17 amp 12 volt rail is very low.

17*12= 204 watts and to keep it no more than 80% load 204*0.8 = 163.2 watts

a 7750 is ~45 watts and your CPU will use up to 73 watts for 118. then each stick of RAM will use 4-5 watts, a hard drive 10 watts spinning up with 5 watts read/write and the H55 chipset 6 watts.

so out of the 45 available your system will use 31 of that - 14 watts is very very close. not even enough for a light bulb.

technically it can be done but i wouldn't do it myself.

yes, you will be ok with a 7750 at your resolution. i cannot tell you that it will never lag or stutter but i doubt it will have any problems unless you try to play metro 2033 at highest settings.

but that game kills every card.

ok thnks looniam........metro 2033 is definitely one of the most demanding game for any card.......due to it's enhanced hardware tessellation and graphics....wt abt other games like skyrim, amazing spiderman and battlefield 3....will it be able to handle these without any problem.......?

it wiil be fine. here is a review of the 12.11 drivers and the 7750 is benchmarked with a few of the games you mentioned, it looks like at your resolution it will get ~45-50 fps.

thnks looniam........hope hd 7750 will survive for the next few years as there are big titles coming up later in next year...like watch dogs, crysis 3,and even the most awaited game of the year will be available for pc i.e GTA5(not officialy confirmed).......hope this card will handle these at decent frame rates without any issues unless these games are optimized perfectly......

yes the computer boots up just fine without any issues........although i didn't put my new graphic card in the mobo.....i am running my old graphic card in it......i kept it running through 1 to 2 hrs and the psu does heats a little.....i mean only the body of the psu not the cabinet......i also played sleeping dogs with this around 1hr with no abnormal shutdown or any other vital problems.....but still iam worried......wt do u think looniam.....besides the psu fan could be replaced right.......?

i believe you would void the PSU's warranty by replacing the fan.

email corsair about the issue. if they give you a reasonable explanation then install the graphics card.

i don't believe the PSU is defective since it powers up the system but the thermal control for the fan or the fan itself is.

if it is the fan, that is easy to replace but if it is the control then replacing the fan won't help and you would have voided the warranty opening up the PSU.

i feel bad you have a problem and hope corsair answers you quickly.

well let's see......besides by searching on through the internet i found that the design of my corsair psu is CHIEFTEC iArena GPA-450S based which means CWT and JUNG FU capacitors....alongwith the 120mm fan of the same psu......i then had a look through the vent of the psu with the help of a torch light and to my surprise i found that the design which is showed in the web is same as that of my psu.......now what........i am a kind of worried...... is it a valid corsair design or some cheap chinese junk...wt do u say looniam...... :ouch:

Country: INDIA
First Name: sharat
Last Name: nair
Question: i would like to ask a question related to my CORSAIR VS 450w psu......the fan in it is not operational while the system is running....and it gets little bit hot to touch.....so is my psu faulty or the fan is thermal controlled and it only operates at a certain temperature?....i did the paper clip test but still no movement of fan but the case fan which was attached to it while testing was functional.....so my question is:"IS THERE A PROBLEM IN MY PSU OR IS IT THE WAY IT SHOULD BE"? hope to get a prompt reply.......... THANKING YOU....

now what to do looniam?..........pls reply....

save the email, run the system with the PSU. if it shuts down from getting too hot it will shut down w/o damaging the rig and then get an RMA number to replace the PSU.

think about gaming for a half and hour, then increase the time to two hours gradually. if there are no problems, insert the new card and start with a small time again.

if you get to a few hours and the PSU fan comes on or it does not get hot to the touch, you may be ok. (40c).

if anything seems to risky then stop immediately and tell corsair you have a problem and need a replacement.

ok looniam i did as you said......i played assassins creed 3 for around 3 hrs with my new graphic card and psu.....but the problem was that the temperature inside the case was very high around 42c alongwith the psu which became hot to touch overtime while playing.......the fan was still not spinning......however i didn't had any abnormal shutddown or crashes during these hrs.....but i was afraid that the temperature may affect my whole rig......so i disconnected my new graphic card and psu and now iam running my old graphic card and psu.......so what do u say looniam i think i should replace it right........?coz it must be defective.....but what will i do if the same thing happens after the replacement.......any conclusion regarding this looniam.......?

i am very sorry you are having this problem. i do think you ought to see about being able to return the PSU from where you got it from. it has been less than 30 days an i would think there should not be a problem replacing it. and it might be a good idea to see about a CX430 instead.

but how will i get a cx 430 it's price is more than my current psu which i bought from in here.....and apart from that to return it i will have to travel from kerala to all the way to hyderabad again where i bought it.....but since my classes have started i cannot go there personally.....but the service center of corsair is there in my place which is some 3 to 4hrs from my residence.....it's kaizen infoserve pvt limited kochi(kerala).....if i go there will they replace my defective psu with a new psu there and then or do i have to wait for some days to get it....?however they will not accept any replacement order till 25th of december.......but after that i can ask for the replacement....what do u think looniam i know that u are not aware of this company as it is has a joint venture with corsair only in india......but will i get the replacement instead of going all the way to hyderabad........?

the CX430 isn't a model that could be based off of a chieftek PSU. though i doubt you will have the same problem with a replacement i would suggest finding a better model. if the price difference isn't much it would be a bit better; you would have no worries.

i don't know what to say about your travel time and dealing with the company, if you explain to them to added trouble it caused you to replace the defective PSU; they might give you a break if they believe you are/would be a steady customer.

sorry i cannot buy a new model by adding more money and i cannot travel back again to the retailer either ,due to cost and time factor......i have to rma it.......let's see what happens after the replacement hope it works.........besides the CX 430 is not made of jung fu capacitors it has a totally different design than mine.......it's made up of some high quality japanese capacitors......but no use of saying that i have to replace my current psu anyway.......
