660 ti at $250 or 7950 at $280

ok so I know its been asked a lot but that was prior to the recent drop in price for the 660 ti. My question is, "Is the 7950 worth the extra $30?" Also I would like to make mention that the 660 ti comes with Assassin's Creed 3 which is a game I would eventually get either way. Not really interested in any of the 7950's games even though there are 4. I come from a PS3 so I have no loyalties to either company just want the best performance at the best price on my single 1080p monitor.

More about : 660 250 7950 280

wow that anandtech chart really helps. I think for the games I care about the 660ti seems to hit higher FPS and for the most part the difference in FPS between both cards seems minimal. I'll just have to keep my eyes peeled for a better brand. Any suggestions?

$300 but really I'd like to spend $200-$250. I really like Bethesda games and I saw that 660 ti got walloped pretty bad by the 7950. My question is can I even tell a difference between 68 and 84fps? I've heard once its over 60fps the human eye cant tell any more. Maybe thats a myth

mine is only 60hz and I didnt mention it was skyrim that it had the difference on if that matters. I have it on PS3 but its virtually unplayable so that was a big part of me moving to a PC that and I wanted to build one. I've finished it off accept for the GPU My concern is that it might not function as well on future Bethesda games which would be a shame. Do you think this would be a problem for the 660 ti and I should role with the 7950?

Well you wont notice any difference.

660 Ti does better @skyrim but only at max 1080P (Your current resolution)

I still recommend the 7950 as u will get playable FPS and wont notice that difference.

Also if you go higher with resolution 7950 hands down.

Those 2 cards are really close but that 7950 goes ahead a bit .

Edit : I do game on a 75 Hz monitor and i dont notice any differnce when i get 200+FPS with V-Sync off and when getting 75FPS with V-Sync on.

Well the 660 ti gtx will have better driver support and lower power consuption and features like physX and txaa and about the same performance of the 7950 some games will be better(skyrim one of those) and some others will perform worse and has the factor that it's cheaper.
The 7950 is all about oc, with oc it takes a step in performance and beats the 660 gtx ti and it has 4 games that you can sell/or play and it totals 169.99$ worth.

well since its brand new i wont be changing my monitor for quite some time. Probably be time to buy a new GPU by then, so unless i'm going to get another year out of the 7950 that I wouldnt out of the 660 ti I think I'll go with it. So if the PNY isnt good what about this?

Just great. You can consider Asus too if its not more expensive.
