External storage not visible in wifi

my current home netowrk setup:

Cable modem
linksys WRT320N router
Dlink 10 port gigabit switch
3 wired desktops
networked printer/scanner
external D Link Share Center
3 wireless devices

I cannot see the share center Drives on my laptop unless I plug in. Would I need to simply plug the storage drive into the router instead of the switch? Will that affect the rest of the network?

on another note, what is the best way to test my computer to computer connection speeds?

Check your wireless settings. Do you allow wireless devices to have access to LAN resources?
