First Bootup Failed

Motherboard: Gigabyte z77x-up7
CPU: Intel I7 3770K
PSU: Thermaltake Black Widow 850W
RAM: Cosair Vengence 8gb (2 * 4gb)
SSD: Sandisk Extreme 240gb sata III.

First build so I hope I didn't do anything to destroy the motherboard or anything, but when I press the onboard power button the fans start up for a second literally and then stop. All I have connected is the ram, cpu, monitor, one system fan, cpu fan, ssd through sata III, and the powersupply to the motherboard via main power cable.

I just don't exactly know how to proceed at this point. Its also out of the case if that means anything. Please help I thank you in advance

Do you have the 8-pin power connected up by the back ports?

*facepalm* no I did not. Fail. Side question though, do I need to connect both the 8 pins or just one? With one it booted up. Sorry I am really new at this.

It happens to all of us somettimes No. Just one. That motherboard is a beast and it has two 8-pin connectors to connect a second PSU for extreme overclocking power. Happy computing with your monster their.
