Graphics Upgrade..

Hello, I currently have a CQ2740EA Desktop. The current motherboard has no PCI ports. I wanted to upgrade my graphics card to a XFX Radeon HD 6850. I need to know what to do and how to do it... Well that sucks, another reason not to get an OEM PC, only thing you can do is a new mobo.

Didn't you know the difference between G630 & G630T before buying that?
Anyways, 2 things need to be replaced:
1. Mobo
2. PSU (Get at least 450 W Corsair/Antec/Seasonic).

And, if you have the budget, upgrade that CPU also. Get a non-T Pentium G2120/i3 3220 at least to prevent CPU Bottleneck.

You made a triple post... the mobo will do but that psu...just don't...really why buy something crappy as the older psu and it doesn't have a pcie 6 pin connector.

The PSU is despite common belief, the main component. It is more important than your mobo. A bad PSU means your computer could go up in flames. Get a Corsair or Antec ONLY!

No it won't work. You GPU requires at least a 500W power supply.

scroll down on specs.. minimum psu wattage requirement 500 watts...

all GPU's have a min wattage requirement even if they don't use close.

Oh common that is a recommendation only, it is very subjective...

The most important is this : +12V@32A of the corsair vs crappy 500w with 18A, it means that the corsair have 384 watts, the 6850 only requires 150w maximum.

Like i said it will do, no problems whatsoever.

much cheaper to build from scratch though, on black friday i got a top of line i7-3770k with radeon 7870 2gb and all other parts, including os, mouse, keyboard, speakers, and monitor for only 750 bucks
