$4000. Wow! This seems a little expensive, but I guess it would
be worse if you had to pair it with a full-frame sensor and "only" got
200mm out of it, instead of 300mm. This lens should make sports
photogs pretty happy because with a 2x teleconverter they'll get a
600mm f4 in a relatively compact package.

The lens is 200mm. Period.

The camera crops the focal plane, the TC magnifies the image hitting it.
