Sound over HDMI
Nov 26, 2012, 7:35 PM
I currently have a Radeon 5870 in my computer. If I run an HDMI cable from it to my TV, will that send sound to the TV as well or will I have to run a separate audio cable?

HDMI will send both audio and video to your tv. Just make sure to disable the onboard audio in your motherboard bios.

Dude496 is correct in that HDMI will carry both audio and video, but there is no need to disable on-board audio. Just select ATI Digital Audio (HDMI) as the active audio port.
