Freeze up.

My friend tells me that his pc totally freezes up every time he tries to play an audio cd,could some kind person tell me what the likely cause is.

Could be one of several things, like an IRQ conflict. Is DMA enabled on the drive in question? If not, you might find this <A HREF="http://forumz.tomshardware.com/hardware/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=31905#31905" target="_new">post</A> interesting.

You may need to list some system specifications if checking this area doesn't fix the problem.
